FIRST RESPONSE
Oil Containment Boom is used to dam oil floating on water. In order words the boom "contains" the oil. Several factors affect the capacity of a boom to contain oil. The paramount factors are water current, wave height, wind velocity, and viscosity of the oil. Generally, the booms function satisfactorily in water currents up to 1-1/2 knots in 1-Ft. waves. Wind velocities up to about 10 knots can sometimes be tolerated depending on the reach and time element.
Ease of deployment, retrieval, cleaning and storage are basic considerations in KOLDA’s Containment Boom. However, it may be left in water full time if conditions warrant. Used either way, years of useful of life can be expected from this boom.
Kolda’s Oil Containment Boom is engineered to provide maximum oil containment. It has proper ballast and adequate strength. The flotation logs are very flexible and facilitate storage.
